Just noticed that Greg Giantfore is trash talkin' SAP and Siebel in Europe. Yea that'll work. Nothin' like a trash talkin' American to seduce away all those European SAP customers.
RightNow is taking a page from NetSuite who borrowed the page from Jonathon Tang. Bottom line is that brute force frontal attacks rarely work.
Desperate tactics lead me to believe that RightNow and NetSuite are bumping up against Epiphany's Constant...
Epiphany's Constant describes the upper limit of quarterly revenues CRM vendors seem to be unable to exceed. Think of Epiphany's Constant as the opposite of Planck's Constant which describes how small something can get. Epiphany's Constant is driven by the universal law of CRM marketing - which is - there is a very weak correlation between success selling Oracle databases to large enterprises, and success selling CRM to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Our "constant" is named in honor of Epiphany, because of their inability to ever exceed $150 million of quarterly revenue despite having the largest war chest ever, and supposedly, one of the best management teams money could buy. Although I guess it could just as easily be named after Pivotal, Onyx, Firepond, Interact, SalesLogix, etc., etc.
The problem with all CRM vendors is they continue to be dominated by the Oracle force field, which prevents them from understanding that it's not about selling IT solutions to large enterprise CIO's, but guns and ammo to small enterprise sales guys.
